It started with a house, an idea, and forty doors.
Blueberry Brook’s story begins with Brooke Kottmann, a home remodeler from Maryland who saw something in the property that others might have overlooked. Together with his daughter Ginny, he began imagining what it could become: a one-of-a-kind country bed and breakfast. The two would sketch plans together, slowly giving shape to the place that exists today.

Ginny was an artist, and Blueberry became one of her greatest canvases. When Brooke arrived with forty doors, she found ways to work them into the house rather than simply treating them as building materials. That same instinct to reuse, reimagine, and make something unexpected can still be felt throughout the property.

Her husband Bob, an accomplished glassblower, joined in the work as well. Ginny involved her children and local kids in the transformation, teaching them different trades along the way. The process wasn't quick. It took seven years for the house to be completed.
The result was never a house designed to look as though everything had been chosen at once. It grew piece by piece, shaped by artists, craftspeople, old objects, unusual ideas, and the people who worked on it.
Eventually, Ginny and Bob moved to New Jersey and Blueberry entered its next chapter. The property changed hands, but the things that made it unusual remained—the Schoolhouse, the artwork, the craftsmanship, the rooms with personalities of their own, and all those details that make you stop and look twice.
Blueberry is still evolving today. But its story is already written into the walls.
